History

The Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) was formed in 1950 to address the professional needs of public managers.  It is the oldest and one of the largest organizations of its kind in the nation.

Over the years, MMANC has evolved from being the “Municipal Management Assistants of Northern California” to the “Municipal Management Association of Northern California,” reflecting on the organization’s diversity.  Today, MMANC serves over 500 members at various levels of local government organizations (analysts, division managers, directors and assistant managers) across a variety of disciplines (city manager offices, parks and recreation, finance, information technology, utilities, human resources, police and fire).
