ON MMANC

WHY I WANTED TO JOIN THE BOARD: I joined MMANC to gain a better understanding of how MMANC works, and to create opportunities for other professionals to network and grow their skill sets.

MMANC’S TOP TWO STRENGTHS ARE: The annual conference and one day conferences throughout the year.

MY MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE TO DATE: My most memorable moment was my first experience with MMANC at the annual conference in 2015 in Sacramento. I also really enjoyed the Diversity Uncovered training by CircleUp Education.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2017

I WOULDN’T MISS AN MMANC EVENT IF WE HELD IT IN: Sonoma/Napa County.

I WISH MMANC WOULD HOST AN EVENT COVERING: Graphic Design.

MY WORK & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

MY AREAS OF EXPERTISE: Outreach and community engagement, written/verbal Spanish language skills.

MY DREAM JOB DUTIES WOULD INCLUDE:project management and community engagement for projects that promote health and well-being.

WHAT KEEPS ME EXCITED ABOUT WORKING IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT IS:  enjoy connecting people with information and resources to help them understand how local government works.

THE EVENT OR PERSON THAT INSPIRED ME TO WORK IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT: I grew up volunteering with a range of organizations including Home and Hope, which provides a safe haven for homeless families, as well as my elementary school and high school where I tutored students. I also spent five summers during high school and college volunteering with Amigos de las Americas, a non-profit that promotes youth leadership and community engagement. All of these experiences have led me to my career in local government.

WHO YOU ADMIRE THE MOST AND WHY (HISTORICAL OR CURRENT): I look up to my mom for having a successful career while also raising a family at the same time.
