1.5 hour Credentialed Government Leader Course on Priority-Based Budgeting (Introduction and Case Studies)

In this session, we will learn about the core steps to develop a priority based budget, and discover (through case studies) how cities/counties apply PBB to accelerate impact for residents and the community. Join us!

Why Implement Priority Based Budgeting: For local government leaders to succeed in a data-driven era, we need to create more insightful data, and we need new skills and clear ambitions to most prosperously put data to use. This is what PBB is all about: what data will we need to create, and what ambitions do we strive for as we apply the data?

Most organizations have new programs and services they wish they could launch, with no shortage of phenomenal ideas for a brighter future for their communities. However, they perceive that they don’t have the people or the resources to launch anything substantial or ambitious.

To compound this, the cost of providing current services continues to increase, putting additional strain on the resources available to achieve the results that matter most to their citizens.

This is why the status quo persists in most organizations — not because of a lack of great ideas, and not because of a lack of drive to tackle their community’s most pressing challenges, but because of a limiting and debilitating belief that there’s just not enough money to fund new programs.

Most excitingly, organizations who are applying PBB are showing that resources are more readily available than many might have believed. By applying PBB, organizations are discovering solutions to develop and maximize new resources and reallocate and optimize their current resources. They are exploring opportunities to launch new programs and bolster the highest priority programs to create the best possible future.

Priority Based Budgeting connects local government resources with the results most important to the community using programmatic data. The creation of the data allows us to answer four questions: What do we do? How much is it costing us to provide our services? Why are we in business? And finally, what is our direction in the future?

ResourceX supports local governments to strategically align resources with community outcomes. Through Priority Based Budgeting (PBB) methodology and software, local governments are accelerating data-driven decision making and budgeting to align resources towards society’s biggest challenges. Providing a platform to fund equity initiatives, climate action plans, and a fiscally sustainable future for residents and the community.

This session is also co-sponsored by the City of Redwood City.
