POSITION AND OPPORTUNITY
Alameda County General Services Agency (GSA) is seeking an experienced and innovative safety manager that develops, implements, manages, coordinates and evaluates the Safety and Emergency Preparedness Program for the Alameda County General Services Agency; develops related policies and procedures; monitors and ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws, codes, policies and regulations pertaining to safety and emergency preparedness; ensures the safety of employees and county-owned facilities; manages the EOC Logistics Section, Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), Hazardous Mitigation Plan Updates, Emergency Operations, and GSA Safety Program; and performs other related duties as required.
*Plan, coordinate, and manage the Agency’s Safety and Emergency Preparedness Program; manage the EOC Logistics Section, Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), Hazardous Mitigation Plan Updates, Emergency Operations, and GSA Safety Program.
*Develop and maintain policies, procedures, manuals, and plans related to Safety and Emergency Preparedness Programs, and ensure safety of employees and county-owned facilities.
*Serve as the point of contact for the Logistics Section in emergency and/or disaster response.
*Ensure compliance with federal and CAL OSHA safety laws, codes, and regulations.
*Manage contracts related to emergency preparedness and safety services.
*Organize and direct the internal and external safety program for GSA employees and county facilities.

Alameda County is the second largest county in the Bay Area with a population of over 1.6 million. The County encompasses 14 cities, as well as 6 unincorporated communities and rural areas that span a total of 738 square miles.
Alameda County employs over 9,700 employees working in over 20 different agencies and departments. The County provides a full spectrum of services, including general government and internal services, health care, social services, public works, criminal justice, and other public safety services.
The County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors responsible for setting policy, overseeing all County operations, approving the organization’s annual budget, and representing the County in a number of areas including its special districts and regional agencies. Alameda County General Services Agency (GSA) delivers a host of logistical support services to County agencies and partners, from the maintenance of facilities and County fleet to energy and environmental management services, capital project management, procurement services, and clean commute and recycling programs. Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in emergency management, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, public administration, health, social science, business or a related field.
The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time, professional-level experience performing safety and/or emergency preparedness planning, development, coordination and maintenance, and program administration/evaluation, and implementation.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
• Must be able to use a respirator.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
• Completion of IS-100, 200, 700, & 800 within 12 months of appointment.
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) within 12 months of appointment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Annual Salary: $99,486.40-$120,889.60
