The Manager of Cyber Security position within BART’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), reports directly to the Director of Technology. This is the leader of the BART Cybersecurity Division, supervising 4 dedicated Cybersecurity Engineers in an exciting and challenging role, administering some of the latest security tools in a highly virtualized environment.

This position will be based out of the brand-new BART Headquarters Building at 2150 Webster St, in Oakland, CA – near the 19th Street BART Station. BART employees ride BART for free, making this an ideal place to commute from any BART location in the Bay Area. Although this position will be assigned a private office, this cutting-edge building follows a mobile first strategy to support flexible workspaces, the latest in conference room technology, advanced training rooms, and a rooftop terrace equipped with outdoor Wi-Fi. BART issues laptops to all employees at this location, and BART is currently offering a hybrid work schedule of 2 days remote, and 3 days in the office, once new-hire probation is complete.

As a Regional Government office, BART is responsible for computer networks in 5 Bay Area Counties and the safety of hundreds of thousands of weekday riders. BART’s Cybersecurity Division has a wide variety of security responsibilities that include Business Networks, Police Networks, and Anti-Terrorism security measures. BART is looking for highly motivated, intelligent specialists that are excited to contribute, learn and grow in our organization. In the Cybersecurity Division, you’ll get hands-on experience with the latest in Software Defined Networking, Virtualization, Hyperconvergence, Intrusion Detection/Prevention, Network Access Control, Vulnerability Scanning, Data Loss Prevention, Cloud Fencing, End Point Security, Forensics and more.

BART is looking for a highly experienced cybersecurity professional with leadership experience, excellent written and verbal skills, and a desire to work with cutting edge tools. BART is looking for someone who is passionate about advocating for modern security controls and implementing security policies. The Cybersecurity Division offers a collaborative environment with a major emphasis on ensuring that our personnel get the training, support and certifications they need to better combat the evolving threat landscape.

BART offers comprehensive compensation and benefits programs. $139,192.00/annually – $210,876.00/annually (Non rep E Band 10)

Initial salary will be between $139,192.00/annually – $181,278.55/annually depending on experience and education.
