The City of Berkeley is seeking a driven, compassionate, dynamic and experienced Affordable Housing Development Supervisor! In this role, you will lead our Housing Development Unit, which administers the City’s Housing Trust Fund and Small Sites Programs. We are looking for an individual with a deep commitment to serving the Berkeley community and addressing the critical need for affordable housing. You’ll bring advanced skills and experience in affordable housing project management, including expertise in affordable housing finance, real estate development budgets, and operating proformas.

Working in the Housing and Community Services Division, you’ll play a pivotal role in:
- Strategically planning, implementing, and administering affordable housing development initiatives.
- Overseeing the utilization of our local affordable housing trust fund – a powerful tool for positive change.
- Supervising and mentoring a small team of dedicated professionals and consultants.
- Tackling complex projects with minimal supervision, making a significant impact on the lives of Berkeley residents.
The internal title for this position is Senior Community Development Project Coordinator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college with major course work in business, planning or public administration or a closely related field, and four (4) years of professional project management experience in community development, especially housing. At least three years of lead and/or supervisory experience is highly desirable. A master’s degree in a related program is desirable and can be substituted for one (1) year of the experience. Additional specialized experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.
