We’re looking for an ICC-certified Senior Building Inspector to join the Planning & Development Department! In this role, you will perform highly skilled inspection work for complex projects as well as lead and train other inspectors. Inspections will involve the interpretation and enforcement of codes and regulations for building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and five (5) years of journey-level experience as a combination inspector with a public jurisdiction. College level coursework in the inspection field is desirable.

Requirements include:

  • Current certifications by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector and Mechanical Inspector
  • Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
