The City of Elk Grove is seeking a Budget Manager to join Team Elk Grove! The Finance Department is seeking a collaborative, effective, and emotionally intelligent leader to oversee the City’s Budget team, which consists of 2 full-time analysts and a part-time budget assistant. The Budget Manager supervises and coordinates the City’s budget functions and programs including managing the annual development and ongoing implementation of the City’s operating budget; assisting with the development and implementation of the Capital Improvement Program; and evaluating a variety of City financial and operational activities.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background and understanding of the role of a central budget shop and how to plan and execute the annual budget development process.  They will also be creative and possess the collaborative skills to work both independently and within cross-department teams.  The candidate will possess excellent written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal staff and external agencies. The candidate will need to be comfortable with public speaking as they will be making presentations to the City Council and outside entities. Finally, they should be a thoughtful mentor and coach as they guide staff through their professional development.

Note:  In accordance with the City’s recently adopted Compensation Policy, the Budget Manager salary is anticipated to receive a 2-4% cost-of-living increase, plus a 3% market adjustment effective July 2024.
