Incorporated in 1975, the City of Marina (pop 22,781) is the youngest city on beautiful Monterey Peninsula along California’s Central Coast and offers some of the most affordable housing in the area. The City of Marina is fiscally sound, and its total adopted budget for FY2022-23 is $55.8 million (General Fund $28.2 million). The City is a full-service city. City services are provided by 108 employees in seven City departments: City Administration, Community Development, Finance, Fire, Police, Public Works, and Recreation and Cultural Services. City Attorney services and provided by contract. The City also owns and operates the Marina Municipal Airport, an 845.5-acre general aviation airport that opened in 1995 and is rapidly growing.
This position is responsible for the overall planning, organization, and administration of the City’s Human Resources. The division is within the department of the City Manager’s Office. The position has the unique opportunity to organize new human resources programs, systems, and services. The position provides specialized and expert services, leadership, and guidance to the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, as assigned, the City Council in the broad range of human resources and risk management disciplines.

· EXPERIENCE – Seven years of increasingly responsible generalist human resources experience in a municipal government setting (including at least two years of managerial experience).
· EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in public administration, human resources, or closely related field
