The Orinda Public Works and Engineering Department contains a small, dedicated staff which strives to improve, develop, and maintain public infrastructure essential to the safety, mobility, and quality of life for Orinda citizens. This position will plan, and coordinate assigned programs and activities within the Engineering Services Department, including land development review, storm water management/drainage and serve as staff liaison with the City’s Traffic Safety Advisory commission.
The vacancy may be filled by one of the following job classifications: Senior Civil Engineer, Associate Civil Engineer or Assistant Engineer. Duties assigned will be dependent upon skill level.

Associate Engineer: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering
Assistant Engineer: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering.
License or Certificate:
Associate Engineer: Possession of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.
Assistant Engineer: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License. Possession of certification as an Engineer-in-Training is desirable.
Special Requirements: Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to conduct field inspections and travel to different sites and locations. Ability to attend night meetings.
