The Orinda Public Works and Engineering Department contains a small, dedicated staff which strives to improve, develop, and maintain public infrastructure essential to the safety, mobility, and quality of life for Orinda citizens. This position will plan, and coordinate assigned programs and activities within the Engineering Services Department, including land development review, storm water management/drainage and serve as staff liaison with the City’s Traffic Safety Advisory commission.  The Senior Civil Engineer will manage assigned staff and consultants and assist with budgeting tasks within the Engineering Services Department.  Under direction of the City Engineer, this position will supervise, plan and coordinate assigned programs and activities within the Engineering Services Division.

The vacancy may be filled by one of the following job classifications:  Senior Civil Engineer, Associate Civil Engineer or Assistant Engineer.  For More information visit www.calopps.org.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible experience in civil and municipal engineering including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering.

License or Certificate: Possession of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Special Requirements: Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:  Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to conduct field inspections and travel to different sites and locations. Ability to attend night meetings.
