The City of Rancho Cordova is offering a unique position for a Management Analyst to join the City Manager’s Office.  In this role you will have the opportunity to staff and support special projects, collaborate with city staff and other agencies to analyze programs, grants, and city-wide performance, research and apply for grants and awards, and support a wide range of programs and public meetings.

The ideal candidate for this position is self-directed with a career interest in civic engagement and the ability to analyze financial data, program performance, as well as the impact of services on both the community and city staff.  Other ideal qualifications include a clear and concise communication style, utilizing tact and diplomacy in working with all levels of staff while meeting key milestones and deadlines.  Experience in the public sector is desirable, such as supporting public meetings and/or presenting to large groups of stakeholders.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide responsible professional-level comprehensive analysis, management, financial, operational, or administrative system assistance in the development, administration, and implementation of City programs. Positions may be assigned to provide assistance in a variety of subject and project areas for city departments.

This position will be filled at one of the following two levels, based on the qualifications of the selected candidate:

Management Analyst I  – Salary range: $78,967 – $96,403

This is the entry-level classification in the management analyst series.  Incumbents provide entry-level professional support and initially receive close supervision in the performance of their duties.

Summary of requirements:

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience preferably in municipal government including experience in budget, policy analysis, organizational development, and/or economic development; and
  • Equivalent* to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university with major course work in public or business administration or a related field.  and
  • Current valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City; and
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities per the job description.

*Two (2) years of directly related job experience may be substituted for each one (1) year of education listed above.

Management Analyst II –  Salary range: $86,864 – $108,043

This is the journey-level classification in the management analyst series.  Incumbents perform journey-level professional support and exercise independent judgment in the performance of their duties.  Responsibilities may include the direct or indirect supervision of technical and administrative support personnel, consultants, and volunteers.

Summary of requirements:

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience performing duties similar to that of a Management Analyst I with the City of Rancho Cordova; and
  • Advanced level skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint; and
  • Equivalent* to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university with major work in public and business administration, economics, finance, or a closely related field.  A Master’s Degree is desirable.; and
  • Current valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City; and
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities per the job description.

*Two (2) years of directly related job experience may be substituted for each one (1) year of education listed above.
