The City of Rogue River, Oregon, is seeking its next City Administrator! They will understand how to manage regulatory requirements and have demonstrated leadership and financial acumen to oversee a $14 million budget, the budgeting process, grants management, and a staff of 16. THE JOB

The City Administrator represents the City of Rogue River at many different venues and meetings and works closely with constituents, businesses, elected officials, and regional leaders. They will guide public meetings, serve elected and appointed officials, and be an adaptable and proactive leader who is organized and a good communicator. The City of Rogue River operates under a City Council/City Mayor form of government, and the City Administrator reports to a mayor and a six-member council. The City Administrator will oversee all the City operations, facilities, water and wastewater utilities, contract negotiations, and the public safety division to include its own police department. They will also oversee a $14 million annual budget, which includes $3.5 million water infrastructure, capital improvement program, and general fund budget of $2.9 million.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience as an executive municipal leader and/or department head for a municipal organization. They will understand how to manage regulatory requirements and have demonstrated financial experience and acumen to oversee budgets, grants, and the budgeting process. They will lead with integrity and humility and guide human resource, infrastructure, economic development, employee relations, public safety, and risk-management activities.

This candidate will be able to demonstrate an aptitude to effectively manage public meetings and work with elected officials to provide options and guidance and assist in the development of the City’s vision and strategic plans. This City Administrator should be personable, resilient, an excellent communicator, politically astute, strategic, and passionate about serving the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ideally, have a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Utilities, and
  • Preferably has 3-5 years of experience in public administration, and/or
  • Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that shows the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties effectively may substitute for the above requirement

Desired Qualifications:

  • ICMA City or County Management Certification
  • Oregon Municipal experience
  • Water Utility and Wastewater Public Works background

Salary and Benefits:  An annual salary of $95,000 – $110,000 DOE/DOQ and an attractive benefits package.
