The City of Rohnert Park is seeking a hands-on experienced and knowledgeable individual to manage the Information Technology Division. The position reports directly to the Assistant City Manager. The position is responsible for managing the City’s information systems, including networks, servers, phone and radio systems, personal computers, and end user support. This includes supporting City-operated equipment and systems and managing a wide variety of contracts. The position also develops and administers the Division’s budget, supervises the IT staff, and collaborates with City departments. Successful candidates must have a strong understanding of complex hardware and applications systems and their integration with City computing platforms, a passion for public and customer service, and the ability to prioritize and deliver results. This position requires experience in current information technology trends, network infrastructure support and navigation, the ability to supervise professional staff, and expertise in IT to advise City Departments, City Manager, and City Council.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information technology, or a related field and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the development and administration of computer systems, telecommunication systems, and local area networks, including two (2) years at a supervisory level.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License by time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record.
