Salary: Up to $183,248 annually, plus approximately 5% ongoing non-pensionable pay

Join the City of San José’s Department of Transportation (DOT) as the next Information Technology Manager and lead the department’s technology and innovation strategy in the heart of Silicon Valley. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Transportation, this position will plan, manage, and execute DOT’s technology roadmap; advancing smart infrastructure, data integration, automation, and civic innovation initiatives that support a safe, sustainable, and connected transportation network. The IT Manager will oversee a team of 12 professionals and coordinate closely with the City’s IT Department, City Manager’s Office, and other departments to implement technological solutions that improve efficiency and enhance public service delivery.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative technology leader with demonstrated success in managing IT operations, large-scale system implementations, and enterprise innovation in complex organizations. The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of cloud computing platforms (Salesforce certification preferred), GIS systems, and the integration of advanced technologies such as IoT and AI to modernize field operations. The ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, align technology initiatives with operational priorities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.
