LOCATION: San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility located at 700 Los Esteros Rd, San Jose, CA 95134.
DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT: Approximately October 2024 – March 2025.
HOURS PER WEEK: Up to 20 hours per week during school. Up to 40 hours possible during school breaks (part-time). Occasional evening/weekend hours may be needed.
COMPENSATION:
· Undergraduate Salary Range – $15.17 to $21.66/hour (unbenefited)*
· Graduate Student Salary Range – $19.62 to $28.98/hour (unbenefited)*
*Salary ranges include a 5% ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

About the Internship
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) group is seeking one (1) undergraduate or graduate student intern to support the Regional Wastewater Facility and Water Resources division’s Subsurface Utility Engineering program, GIS data quality assurance, and field data collection. Duties will be adjusted to the chosen candidate’s skills, interests, and availability, but may include:
Desired Skills
· Knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software platform including Field Maps and Arc GIS Online.
· Familiarity with Shapefiles, Geodatabase, and Enterprise environment.
· Understanding of Subsurface Utility Engineering and Underground Service Alert.
· Proficiency in data collection techniques.
Other Skills
· Self-starter, highly motivated, with good time management.
· Ability to follow instructions and procedures and meet deadlines.
· Effective written and verbal communication.
· Flexibility with working conditions in both office and outdoor environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Undergraduate: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate program. Preference for GIS or similar undergraduate programs. Must be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship.
Graduate: Completion of a bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in a master’s degree program from an accredited college or university. Preference for master’s degree programs in GIS or similar. Must be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship.
Experience: None. Preference for candidates with skills in geospatial data and field collection experience.
Licenses & Certificates: Possession of a valid driver’s license authorizing the operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California may be required for some positions.
