Emergency Services Specialist

The City of San Leandro, CA is recruiting for an experienced professional to serve as Emergency Services Specialist.  The chosen candidate will be adept at project management to successfully plan, organize, direct, and evaluate emergency management functions and programs, including building evacuation plans, emergency operating procedures, and incident response plans; coordinate and conduct staff training in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery practices; and assess Citywide training needs and develop training programs and exercises.  This position is also responsible for grants management including grant application and submission, ongoing management of funding, reimbursements, audits, and responding to grantors. The ideal candidate will be a big picture thinker who excels at the management of multiple projects simultaneously through effective organization and a penchant for details.  They will be committed to communicating effectively and cultivating successful working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders including non-profits, businesses, schools, and staff at all levels.

Education and Experience Guidelines:  Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be three years of experience in emergency response management and graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, communication, emergency management or a related field.  The development of an Emergency Operations Center, disaster preparedness plans, educational/training programs, and the coordination of multi-agency and municipal emergency response is highly desirable.  Candidates must possess valid certificates for United States Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, Emergency Management Institute Courses ICS 100 and ICS 200.

Salary Range:  $7,508 – $9,125/monthly
