The Public Works Department consist of three divisions, Utilities, Operations, and Engineering. The Utilities Division includes water and wastewater treatment facilities; and maintains the water and recycled water distribution system, sewer collection, and storm water and drainage systems throughout the City. The Operations Division provides maintenance services for streets, trees, traffic control systems, City buildings, City vehicles, and graffiti removal. The City’s Transit Services, and Municipal Airport are also managed under Operations. The Engineering Division includes the City.
Under administrative direction, the City Engineer plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional and technical engineering support; areas of responsibility include Capital Improvement Program (CIP) planning, design, and construction, oversight of developer improvements, traffic and transportation engineering programs, and construction inspection; develops and administers short- and long-range engineering activities; manages the effective use of assigned resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; provides complex and responsible support to the Director on engineering matters; and performs related duties, as assigned. This is an Assistant Department Director level classification. The incumbent oversees, directs, and participates in major activities and programs of the Engineering Division, and is responsible for providing professional-level support to the Director in a variety of areas.

Salary $175,517.42 – $213,343.26 Annually
