Under general supervision and direction, the Accountant I performs centralized professional level accounting work; prepares, examines, analyzes, maintains, reconciles and verifies complex accounting records and reports; prepares trial balances and journal entries; performs reconciliation of accounts to the general ledger, subsidiary ledger, cost and control ledgers and other records necessary to control fiscal operations. The Accountant I ensures that all financial reports are prepared clearly, concisely, and accurately. They make decisions based upon their comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Financial Reporting Standards. The Accountant I works with Auditors and other professionals to supply and validate information on accounting transactions, policies, and procedures.
There is currently one (1) full-time (37.5 hours/week) temporary position position available. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to gain greater experience in the field of accounting or for someone who is a seasoned professionals who wants to share their expertise on a temporary basis.
ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate is an excellent communicator both in written and verbal communication and with internal and external audiences. They are knowledgeable in GAAP and GASB guidance and applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate has the ability to clearly articulate and document appropriate accounting methodologies utilized in accordance with this authoritative guidance, laws and regulations. They have knowledge of, and are experienced in the process of maintaining expenditure, cost, and control ledgers, registers, journals, and other records necessary to control fiscal operations. They are organized, dependable, accurate, and able to work independently and as a team.
We recognize your time is valuable, so please note that you must have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications in order to be considered for this position: Two years of accounting and/or financial office support experience that includes preparing, processing, and maintaining accounting documents and records. Education or professional training that is directly related to the work may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
