Mobile Library Assistant-Learning Bus, Bilingual

There is one (1) full-time, regular Mobile Library Assistant within the Marin County Free Library

The Learning Bus is a free drop-in mobile preschool program of the Marin County Free Library. Our bus delivers bilingual activities that support early childhood development through exploration, stories, songs, games, art, and lots of fun! Our classes are designed for children 0 to 5 years old and provide a great opportunity for parents to engage with their children while preparing them for school. Come play and learn on our bus!

We are currently looking for an outstanding full-time Mobile Library Assistant (75 hours biweekly)to assist the Community Library Specialist in promoting the Learning Bus program and providing classes and activities that promote early childhood development and literacy to young children, parents and caregivers living in remote and underserved areas of Marin County.  The Mobile Library Assistant will assist in developing and delivering age-appropriate curriculum for children 0-5-year-old, assist in preparation, set up and clean up, assist in upkeep of the library, drive the 30-foot-long Learning Bus vehicle; and perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, refueling and bringing the bus to the garage for repairs while tracking maintenance and problems in the bus log.

This position is designated as bilingual in English and Spanish. Bilingual assignments are distinguished by the required proficiency in the English language as well as a designated second language, in this case Spanish. Proficiency requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form, sufficient to convey information and instructions to the public and other employees.

Bilingual Certification: Successful candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish/ English to be eligible for bilingual pay. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidate possesses the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements of the position.
