There is currently a full-time (37.5 hours per week) 2-year fixed term position with the Marin County Department of Finance Fiscal Administrative Services Division. This is an on-site position reporting to the Marin County Civic Center building located in San Rafael, CA. A flexible schedule may be available after successfully completing the first six (6) months of the probationary period.

Under the general supervision of the Fiscal Administration Division Chief, our valued Accounting Technician performs a variety of technical, complex financial, administrative and accounting support tasks and functions such as:

Quality control checks, accounting, tracking and reconciling duties with an aim towards creating detailed, accurate and complex reimbursement packages to State and Federal agencies such as CalOES and FEMA.
Gathering and compiling information on costs incurred related to countywide emergencies
Ensuring claim records are audit-ready
Compiling reports from a variety of sources including databases, policies, other support teams; and preparing that content for posting in our financial system.

The Accounting Technician is the highest technical level in the accounting support series, and therefore a strong understanding of accounting, auditing and reconciliation principles and practices is required for this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Typically, equivalent to completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major course work in accounting, bookkeeping or a field related to the work AND two years of accounting or financial office support experience. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
