The County of Riverside’s Purchasing and Fleet Department is seeking innovative and solution-focused candidates for their next Deputy Director of Procurement!

The Deputy Director of Procurement will plan, direct, and oversee department operational activities of the Procurement Division and act as a manager over subordinate level supervisors. Duties will include handling performance evaluations, mentoring, and helping to grow employees in this classification. As the first executive level in Procurement, the incumbent will be responsible for the big picture goals and objectives of the division. In order to ensure these goals and objectives are achieved, they will propose policies and develop programs in order to guide the direction of the division. The Deputy Director will also be responsible for creating measurable metrics for work completed and utilize this data in order to better communicate with stakeholders and develop more effective and efficient ways to deliver the Department’s services.

This position will be characterized by its ability to act as an advocate and problem-solver for other County departments as well as for the Procurement Division through cutting the red tape for departments and developing creative solutions to unique Procurement issues. They will also responsible for the development and preparation of a division budget; monitoring expenditures and reviewing internal controls for fiscal purposes.

The Purchasing and Fleet Department is looking for an incumbent who can increase employment engagement, build culture and who is excited to share knowledge as well as coach and mentor staff in order to build bench strength in Procurement.
