The Director, Department of Tax and Collections is responsible for coordinating and planning the collection activities of the County. The Director plans and directs the staffing and
resources required to maximize the collections of various revenues required by law or under the State mandates. This position may act on behalf of the Director, Finance Agency in their absence.
The Director will represent the department at policy levels across the State, as well as with the Board of Supervisors, the County Executive, representatives of other government agencies, labor unions, and County agency/department heads, to achieve increased revenue generation, policy development, and to champion initiatives to improve collections efforts and to enhance customer services for the County of Santa Clara.
Required Background and Experience:
A qualified candidate will possess education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field and five (5) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the management of tax and/or revenue administration, tax auditing, or accounting operations for a large public organization or private entity comparable to the organizational structure of the County of Santa Clara. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
