The Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency at County of Santa Clara is seeking an innovative and dynamic Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer to lead key agricultural inspection, enforcement, and weights and measures programs. As Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer, you will oversee the planning, organization, and direction of agricultural inspection programs and ensure the enforcement of critical regulations. This leadership position includes managing budgets, protecting against invasive species, enforcing pesticide laws, and collaborating with state and county officials. You will also play a pivotal role in shaping policy, conducting investigations, and maintaining vital records.
Required Background and Experience:
The required knowledge and abilities would typically be acquired through education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in agricultural, biological, chemical or physical sciences or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the enforcement of agricultural or weights and measures laws, including two (2) years of management/supervisory and program experience.
Certification required: Possession of valid Licenses of eligibility as a County Agricultural Commissioner and as a County Sealer of Weights and Measures.
