ABOUT THE POSITION

The Technology Systems Specialist I (TSS I) is part of the Health and Human Services Departments’ (HHS) Technical Services Team. The TSS I reports to the HHS Technology Systems Coordinator and is led and supported by Technology Systems Specialist IIIs who are on the team. The TSS I  provides technical support to end-users on general application software as well as specific departmental systems and equipment. The TSS I also provides professional level support including the development, installation of hardware (includes computer and mobile devices) support and maintenance of hardware and software systems and agency/departmental networks. The TSS I performs hardware refreshes swapping hardware equipment including desktops, laptops, docks, monitors, printers, etc. at workstations. The TSS I is responsible for managing the expectation of clients, following-up with clients after a problem is resolved, and tracking and documenting problem resolutions for future use. The TSS I assists in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of data/information systems, and in the development of technical initiatives of moderate scale for departmental applications.  The TSS I oversees the technical and physical aspect of employee and/or department relocation. In addition, the TSS I works with TSS II’s and TSS III’s (lead), HHS staff and vendors on state applications, including but not limited to CWS/CMS, MEDS, C-IV, OPG, CICS, CalSaws.

The Department of Health and Human Services has one full time (1.0 FTE – 75.0 hours biweekly) permanent/regular hire position available.

This position is a fully onsite position – remote work is not an option.  The position will require traveling between our multiple HHS locations.
ABOUT YOUOur Highly Qualified Candidate:

The highly qualified candidate has demonstrated ability to provide desktop and application support to end users of all knowledge levels, while delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate has experience working in a public health care environment and/or general healthcare operations. The successful candidate also has the ability to manage and triage support calls with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of and/or has experience with the State of CA’s health care applications and the following applications: Microsoft Office 365, Office 2016, Outlook, Outlook Calendar in an Enterprise environment, Active Directory, Anti-Virus, Network Shares (Scanning, Printing and File), Exchange, Email Encryption, Drive Encryption, Outlook for Mobile Devices (including smartphones and tablets) and mobile security products (such as ITune, Cisco AnyConnect, Cisco Amp). Knowledge in configuring and deploying mobile devices (cell phones and tablets), is ideal.

The ideal candidate is also organized, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. They must be flexible in traveling between our multiple HHS locations. The ideal candidate possesses strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and has experience working with diverse clients. In addition, the ideal candidate has knowledge and understanding of the complexities of county government culture. Experience working in a health care operations environment in an information technology capacity and awareness of HIPAA/PHI/PII, and/or mobile and cloud-based applications/technologies, is highly desirable.

Any two-year combination of recent professional experience and relevant computer science coursework that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. A typical way of achieving these requirements would be completion of two years of college level or technical training in computer science or a closely related field.
