Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is seeking a highly experienced accounting professional for this advanced journey-level classification to perform the full range of technical work in general accounting and auditing, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

About the Position: You will be a part of a small cohesive team in Administrative Services. Midpen aims to recruit and retain employees who embody professionalism, accountability, and respect, who value working in a purpose-driven agency that aspires to contribute to an inclusive, diverse, and equitable community. The ideal candidate has experience performing the full range of technical work in the areas of general accounting and auditing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounting support activities including, but not limited to, reconciling expenditure and revenue accounts including land acquisition worksheets, capital assets and long-term debt funds, verifying availability of funds and classification of expenditures, researching transactions to resolve problems, reconciling bank statements to the general ledger, and providing technical assistance to the Accountant in preparation of the year-end audit. We are looking for a candidate with strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellent customer service. Public sector experience is highly desired. Work Environment: This position is part of Administrative Services at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position.

Education and Experience: We realize your time is valuable, so please apply only if you have at least the required minimum qualifications outlined here: any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be
equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in accounting or finance and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance of financial and accounting records, bookkeeping, or financial support experience. Experience in public sector finance is highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
