Temporary Assignment: Water Distribution Operator

Hourly Wage: $25.38/hour

JOB OVERVIEW:

Nevada Irrigation District is looking for a candidate to join the Operations Department as a Temporary Water Distribution Operator.  As a Water Distribution Operator, you will perform a wide variety of duties associated with the operation and maintenance of the District’s treated water and raw water distribution systems.  In addition, you will be responsible for assisting with the District’s annual flushing and valve cleaning program in the fall/winter.

Duties include the following: patrol, regulate and document the flow of water; assist with canal maintenance during projects and storm events; assist in a wide variety of duties pertaining to the annual flushing and valve cleaning program; help ensure the District’s systems are ready for the upcoming seasons; perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, and able to work in the outside elements.  Weekend availability is required for this position.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time, temporary assignment estimated at 6 months.  Hours of operation include Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm with alternating Thursdays off. (every Tuesday and Wednesday off)

Assignment hours and end date may be adjusted based upon District approval.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:  Previous experience in the construction and operation of a water distribution system is desirable.

Education:   Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

License:         Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
