Office Assistant III’s provide a variety of office support duties to County departments, performing complex and technical processing or program support functions within an identifiable and prescribed framework. Responsibilities may include conducting transactions with the public and other employees requiring interpretation of laws, rules, policies and procedures and serving as department liaison to other agencies. Assignments require Office Assistants to use initiative and independent judgment, and some may function as lead workers.

Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are required for these positions. Bilingual Office Assistant III’s will use their Bilingual skills to communicate frequently with Spanish-speakers while performing their duties. Successful candidates in bilingual assignments must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and any future vacancies for open, fixed term, full-time, and part-time positions, including regular-hire (benefited) and temporary positions, that may occur while the list remains active.

Minimum qualifications: Typically, the equivalent of three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills. Formal administrative office support and/or secretarial courses or training may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
