The Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) is now accepting applications for Environmental Resources Specialist!
WPWMA is a regional agency established in 1978 through a joint exercise of powers agreement between Placer County and the cities of Lincoln, Rocklin, and Roseville (Member Agencies) to own and operate a materials recovery facility, composting operations and sanitary landfill. Today, it is an integral part of the way western Placer County complies with State California Assembly Bill (AB) 939 and Senate Bill (SB) 1383.
This assignment with WPWMA is primarily based on developing and maintaining programs, permits, and relationships that keep WPWMA facilities operating in compliance with all applicable regulations while remaining well positioned for the future.
The Environmental Resources Specialist (ERS) is responsible for monitoring operations, verifying and documenting compliance with the many permits and regulations the facilities are subject to, developing and maintaining contracts and relationships with the numerous contractors and consultants that operate the facility. Other duties include planning operational and facility improvements for the future, conducting environmental sampling, reviewing lab analytics, along with calibrating and maintaining compliance equipment. In addition, the ERS conducts and participates in facility tours and provides updates to the WPWMA Board.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in solid waste management, recycling, land use or environmental health planning work, or a related field.
- Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the knowledge and abilities indicated above. Typical courses may include urban, regional or environmental planning, science, environmental or civil engineering, or other related subject area.
Note: Relevant, equivalent experience (performing the same or similar job requiring similar knowledge, skills, and abilities) may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department. Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency.
