Under general direction, directs, manages, plans, supervises, and coordinates the administration, maintenance and alteration/improvement activities, and security of a large group of County-owned buildings; and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications   

Either: Three years of full-time paid experience supervising staff engaged in the maintenance and repair of commercial buildings including one or more of the following: HVACR systems, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, water treatment, water and steam boiler systems, or fire control systems and equipment. At least two years of this experience must have included the coordination and tracking of preventive maintenance programs.

Or: Three years of full-time, paid supervisory experience over security or custodial service programs for one or more public access buildings or facilities. In order to be qualifying, this experience must have included program level responsibilities such as: supervision of multiple shifts, assistance with budget or staff forecasting/planning, and/or oversight of the operation, care, and replacement recommendations for equipment used.

Note: An Associate’s degree, or the equivalent, in Mechanical-Electrical Technology, or other field closely related to the intent of the class, from an accredited college or trade school, may substitute for one year of the required experience. A Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Institutional or Facility Management, or other field closely related to the intent of the class, from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.

Note: If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable.   Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
