The City of San Pablo is actively seeking candidates for the position of Senior Civil Engineer to perform complex engineering work on a variety of projects.  The Department is offering a unique opportunity to work in a full-service public works department (review, design, bid, build) and needs candidates who will effectively work with our community and our amazing department and City team members. These candidates must be collaborative, communicative, flexible, innovative, and be able to look at opportunities outside the norm.

About the Position:  Reporting to the City Engineer, the Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for performing professional and technical Civil engineering duties requiring specialized knowledge; to plan, organize, direct and supervise assigned staff engaged in municipal Public Works Engineering Division; Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) including planning, design review, construction, plan checking, inspections, and special studies and reports; and to provide highly responsible professional support to assigned management.; performs related work as assigned. Education and Experience:  Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.   A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:  Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

Experience:  Four (4) or more years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience including some responsibility for directing the work of engineers and support personnel.

License and Certificate:  Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.

Registration, possession, and maintenance of a Civil Engineer license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA)  Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologist.
