THE JOB

This newly created position, the Senior Engineer, is an essential technical leader and project manager who will ensure projects are successfully completed. This role encompasses both engineering and hydrology. As the Senior Engineer, you’ll enjoy the chance to work across the entire utility department. The diversity of responsibilities presents a unique opportunity for career advancement and personal growth as the utility department expands and progresses.

You will be responsible for overseeing and managing a variety of water infrastructure projects, ranging from water treatment facilities to distribution systems and pipelines. Your technical expertise will be put to use in designing, planning, and implementing these projects to enhance the city’s water supply and distribution capabilities. This Senior Engineer may be overseeing up to a $100 million CIP budget. In collaboration with the Distribution Section, you’ll conduct hydraulic analysis and modeling, participate in engineering studies to identify improvements, and conduct assessments and technical studies. Additionally, you will play a key role in critical master planning initiatives, shaping the future of the water distribution system and enhancing its infrastructure.

THE IDEAL SENIOR ENGINEER

The ideal Engineer has a specialized civil/environmental engineering background in water, wastewater, and solid waste. They also have a broad understanding of engineering principles, with experience working on multidisciplinary teams, giving them the confidence to lead engineering teams and offer input. To effectively communicate and coordinate with different levels of City staff and stakeholders, this engineer will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able to adapt to changes quickly and efficiently. This expertise will be vital in effectively overseeing and executing a wide range of capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing the city’s water utilities and environmental systems. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be familiar with pertinent local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, and rules.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

  • Two years of responsible professional engineering work similar to that of an Associate Engineer with the City of Roseville, including one year of lead or supervisory responsibility.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in civil, environmental engineering, construction engineering technology, or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
  • Possession of a current certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer by date of appointment.  Must obtain California Professional Civil Engineer certification within one year of date of appointment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

An annual salary of $106,075 – $142,150 DOE/DOQ and a comprehensive benefits package.
