Under general direction, plans, organizes, manages, and provides administrative direction and oversight for the operational divisions within the Public Works Department, including streets, park, building, open space, vehicle and equipment maintenance; assists in coordinating assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, outside agencies, and the public; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments, divisions, and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Public Works Director in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to a Associate’s degree, with coursework in construction management, engineering, forestry, or a related Public Works field. AND
Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal Public Works facilities or services, including two (2) years of management and/or supervisory experience
License & Certifications: Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Possession of a certificate in a relevant Public Works area is desirable, including but not limited to an Arborist certificate issues by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), a Playground Safety Instructor Certificate issued by a reputable organization such as the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) or International Playground Safety Institute (IPSI).

The most-qualified candidates from the remote interview will be submitted for consideration for final selection to the City.
The City will tentatively hold hiring interviews the week of June 26, 2023.
