The ideal candidate is an experienced civil engineering professional with a strong background in solid waste, environmental, or public infrastructure engineering. They bring demonstrated experience managing complex, highly regulated projects and programs, along with the ability to interpret and apply engineering principles, regulatory requirements, and permit conditions in an operational landfill environment. This individual is a collaborative and effective communicator who can work successfully with County leadership, landfill operations staff, engineers, consultants, regulatory agencies, and the public. They possess strong project management and leadership skills, including experience overseeing consultants, guiding technical staff, and addressing complex technical and compliance issues. A successful candidate is committed to public service and environmental stewardship and will support Yolo County’s mission by ensuring landfill operations and capital projects protect public health and safety while promoting long-term environmental compliance and sustainability.
