Website Yuba County-District Attorney

The Yuba County District Attorney is looking for an experienced peace officer to join our law enforcement family as a DA Investigator I/II. We are hiring to fill a vacancy at the DA Investigator II level, and establish an eligibility list for the DA Investigator I level.

A DA Investigator I/II is a sworn peace officer who works to ensure investigations are complete and cases ready for presentation to a jury.  DA Investigators come alongside detectives from other law enforcement agencies to investigate critical incidents and other major cases.  DA Investigators also work closely with prosecuting attorneys to identify and conduct follow-up investigations necessary to uncover the truth and bring justice for crime survivors.

The Investigator class is flexibly staffed with two salary levels. Investigator (Level II) is the journey level in the series. This is the level assigned to Investigators with at least eight (8) years of experience as a peace officer, who have demonstrated sufficient professional knowledge, judgment, and skill to handle the most difficult and complex investigations under limited supervision. To be considered for the level II position, the applicant must have successfully completed a designated Field Training Program.

Level I is the first working level in the series, assigned to Investigators who qualify as peace officers, but have less experience, knowledge, and skill. Level I incumbents perform the same work, but under closer supervision.

Examples of Job Duties:

· Conducts full scope of investigative work, including authoring search warrants, locating and interviewing witnesses, managing crime scenes, and processing evidence.

· Assists in preparing exhibits and evidence for courtroom presentation.
