The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Employment Services Specialist in the Employment division within the Health & Human Services department. Under general supervision, the incumbent determines the extent of client’s employment service needs through interactive interviewing and fact gathering; develops and monitors progress of individualized plans to assist clients in becoming employed and economically self-sufficient; provides case management guidance, and solutions to employment obstacles to clients with routine social service needs; and performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate strong interviewing and active listening skills to accurately assess client needs and employment barriers.
- Possess the ability to develop individualized employment or self-sufficiency plans that are realistic, measurable, and tailored to each client’s goals.
- Exhibit case management expertise, including follow-up, documentation, and progress monitoring to ensure clients remain on track.
- Bring a solution-focused mindset, identifying resources and strategies to overcome employment challenges and remove barriers to success.
- Communicate with empathy, professionalism, and cultural awareness when working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Education and Experience:
MINIMUM: Equivalent to 30 semester or 45 quarter units from an accredited institution in career planning, vocational guidance, counseling, behavioral science, psychology, sociology, or a related field and two (2) years of determining eligibility for programs or one (1) year of vocational guidance services. Relevant education may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED: In addition to the minimum, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field and one (1) year of vocational case management experience.
