About the Position

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Sheriff’s Records Clerk within the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department. Under general supervision, provide difficult, technical, complex or specialized work relating to Sheriff’s department records and associated automated information systems; and perform related work as assigned.  This position is often the first point of contact for the Sheriff’s Department. This is an advanced journey level in the clerical series. This position reports directly to the Sheriff’s Records and Communications Manager.

This position serves as a department representative and must uphold department policies and procedures, while fostering a safe working environment and maintaining command presence.

VALID TYPING CERTIFICATE REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION:

Minimum Net 40 WPM  (internet and/or online tests NOT accepted)

Typing Certification must indicate the testing agency, results from a 5 min. exam, and be no more than 12 months old.

Requirements:

Minimum : Equivalent to graduation from high school and three (3) years of general office support or secretarial experience is required.

Preferred: In addition to the minimum, college coursework with an emphasis in business practices or a related field, additional experience as previously defined, and/or with a public agency.

Special Requirements:  The ability to work alternate shifts based on the needs of the department.  The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver’s license within  ten (10) days of employment, maintain valid California Class C driver’s license; successfully complete an extensive and thorough background investigation which includes Live Scan fingerprinting; and will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.

Working Conditions:  May be required to work alternate shifts based on the needs of the department.  Work in situations which involve emergencies and may be stressful.
